Want some depressing news on this. It is true, as has been stated, that
men seldom (if ever) reveal their emotions to each other (for mostly macho
reasons) or to women (don't want to appear vulnerable, again, mostly macho).
Our society fosters this behavior and does not approve of the "sensitive" guy.
There are many ads for "Hero" cologne and "Iron" cologne, but none for men
of a more feeling, sensitive mein. In the great big world out there, if one
is not perceived as being aggresive and outgoing, one is often labelled as
a "wimp" (take poor George, he's really not such a wimp, though he is a TOTAL
AND COMPLETE DIRTBAG SLIMEBUCKET).
What are the results of this attitude of society? Men who are unable to
communicate with anyone on an intimate basis, and who are unwilling to admit
their imperfections. If I were Jeff, I would only be willing to talk to Bob
about Sue if I were genuinely interested in her, and if I hadn't known her very
well before the given episode (as it states), her behavior would definitely
turn me off, no matter what she looked like. Ergo, no talk with Bob.
