timing

I think I was born 5 or ten years too late. I always used to be
sensitive about people misjudging my age (the short person's curse;
when I was 16 I looked 12, etc...), but that wasn't really such a big
deal. Later I found that most of my friends were older than me.
Having older friends isn't depressing either; actually, it's kind of
comforting.

But running into a case of age discrimination (where the person does
have a perfect right to do so... but they're stomping on something
that was beginning to sound like a dream of sorts without giving me a
chance) when you already feel like you're younger than you were
"supposed" to be is somehow depressing.

I wanted to live there. Oh well.
