Schenectady New York. In a little hollow beside the Mohawk River. Usually
a few degrees colder in winter than surrounding points on the map. It
snows, and then it goes down to 10-20, or lower, and stays that way for
weeks at a time. The snow you get in December and January is the base for
the more snow you get all through Feb and March, and, often, April.

Most of Alaska would suit your tastes, too.

Not Boston. I finally got the right shoes for Boston. I got some
ice-cleats for my LLBean rubberbottom boots. Shoes that neither leak
nor slip. How effective. How depressing (that I'd need such).
