Nonono, your life is most assuredly not pointless just because you
messed up a test.  I agree with Jonathon, most folks seriously muck up
a test to two (or more) along the way.  (I once got a 25 on a test a friend
of mine got 100 on.  Talk about demoralizing...)  And there were some 
Thermo quizzes in Unified...well, we don't have to talk about that.  :)

Seriously -- there are lots of folks here to give you a hand if you 
start getting overwhelmed.  Friends, classmates, upperclassmen who've
taken the course, the TAs, your instructor, your advisor...There really
is a lot of help out there, you just have to learn to ask for it.
And if you don't know who to talk to, call me.  Honest.  I survived this
place (by the skin of my teeth, I'd say) so I'll bet you can too.
