Why is it that the MIT libraries and the BPL for the most part have no
"Introductory" level books; i.e. books with useful information about a
subject for someone who knows little or nothing about it but wants to learn
something? They all appear to be intended for people who are already
experts in the field.
On the other hand, my local library at home has practically no books that
go into any depth on any subject whatsoever, except literature for high
school English classes.
On the cheery_thought side of the balance, however, it is nice that there
are people around here, or accessible via the net, who are knowledgeable
about pretty much anything, and who can and will answer questions even from
complete strangers.
