A Cambridge judge has decided that Shon McHugh is to be tried as
a juvenile.
Thus, if he ends up being convicted of manslaughter, he's free when
he turns 21 (in 5 years). On the brighter side, if he's convicted of
murder, then a relatively recent state law allows for him to be sentenced
for 15-20 (he would be transferred to an adult prison when he turns 21
to serve out the remainder of the sentence).
His co-defendants, who will be tried as adults, face life in prison
even though they are not alleged to have killed Raustein.
