having to get up consistently and work for 8 hours straight would be a good
exercise in attentiveness. And having a firm line between work and hobbies/
activities would help a lot too.
I talked to my parents earlier this term and they wanted me to finish here,
even if it meant taking an extra year. They were afraid that if I took a
year off and got a job, I wouldn't want to come back and finish my degree.
I want to finish, but I want the work that I do to be good, not
half-hearted. My father took 6.5 years to get through here. He took some
terms off, he took some extra terms too. He should know what he's talking
about, and I don't doubt that it's hard to come back, but if you know
you need time off, you need it so take it.
