I just got reminded by my good friend and pal, Derrick Kong, that i never
have time to go xmas shopping. (Pass me the wrench, eh? My sarcasm fount
needs to be turned down just a tad. ;) )
Sigh. I hate xmas. I agree with Rhu: i can appreciate how the Christians
think Christmas is important. It's just that i despise the
commercialization, and unfortunately, it's not very socially acceptable to
not be "in the holiday mood" blah blah blah. Blargh!
So i'm a grinch. (But i -like- being a grinch. :) ) No, actually, it's
just that i don't understand the need to periodically non-spontaneously get
people gifts. if i don't feel like it, why should i? (Which, of course,
is why i don't.)
Then, of course, some friends of mine don't realize this, and get offended.
Not a neat trick.
And it's not even that i hate all aspects of xmas. I like xmas trees.
especially flocked ones. (Quick, look around the room -- if someone
doesn't know what a flocked xmas tree is, it's because they're from the
North.) They're pretty. :) Neep. And sure, if the city decides that
it's annual Clean Up The City is in December, then sure, it's true, the
city does look nice with lights and whatnot. But both of those points have
little to do with either the commercialization or the religion.
