discovering that I have a wonderful thing only in time to realize that
it's about to go away
allowing myself to hope that maybe it wouldn't go away after all, even
though I should have known enough not to
knowing that I've got a little while longer to enjoy it, and that I'd
better make the most of it before it's gone
trying to keep the good things in mind and not dwell on how little
time is left
