So, what if he *threatens* to accuse someone of abuse, when that abuse
has really happened?
An accusation of abuse: "Last Friday, Joe abused me...."
A threat to accuse: "I'll tell the principal that you abused me...."
(when such abuse never happened)
This kind of threat is similar to "I'll kill you" or "I'll kill myself."
Note that therapists are reluctant to deal with a client who has a
history of false abuse accusations ... for obvious reasons.
Again, schools are required by law to report *all* suspicions of abuse
to the Department of Social Services. If Fred had waited one more day
before admitting he made up that story, the principal would have filed
a report with the DSS, even though (I recently learned) staff members
who interviewed Fred had doubts about his story from the beginning.
