Hm, sounds like it was a "hand" made glass improperly unrelieved
of it's internal stress/es (I mean improperly relieved or simply
unrelieved). I once, and only once, watched a glass culpture I'd
spent a /lot/ of time producing "explode" "all by itself" as it
just sat there on a mantle, having exhibited no wierd behaviour
ever for years before it finally couldn't take it any longer.
