A letter in todays NYT positing that the Supreme Court shouldn't
overturn Roe v. Wade because of stare decisis.
By that reasoning, segregation should still be legal.
[NB: I'm not arguing the merits of the two sides of the abortion
issue; I'm arguing against the assertion that Supreme Court decisions
shold never be overturned by a later court. I find this depressing
because it's just another symptom of America's tending to try to win
by twisting the legal system and the rules in one's favor rather
than by {direct effort, trying to win within the rules and occasionally
accepting defeat...}]
