I certainly didn't hate my friend Deanna for killing herself when we were in
high school. I felt incredible sadness that it had come to the point that she
felt there was no better option. I felt shock that she was gone. I was
somewhat angry at the administration that had caused her to believe that she
wouldn't graduate because she had been late too often, and^? then granted her
a posthumous diploma. I was scared because I had seen many similarities
between us.
I didn't hate her for the effect she had on a good portion of our town, but
I couldn't imagine anyone who had ever experienced the suicide of a friend
being able to do such a thing to the people they knew.
Why do I still think about this, after all these years? Sigh...
