Because some people are complaining that the way in which these two projects were installed damaged the IC (which is true) and thus violates the hacker ethic (which is also true). My point was precisely what you said -- that these are not hackers, and that's why they aren't abiding by the hacker ethic -- because the 4.301 instructors apparently don't know it either.
