Re: ping and workstations etc.

I'm terribly sorry if my grammar was too complex. In the future I will
endeavor to write more simply. For the edification of those not following
this little flame, let me recap that to which I was responding:

  Subject: Re: Depression is...

Depression is the "cheery thoughts" meeting has turned into people's
discussionsof how good their workstations/computing environments/whatever
   are.

  Yaaaaayyy.

Well, maybe some people equate computers with emotions.

well, no, just that many emotions around here deal with computers,
and that doesn't happen to be what I think about if I want to be cheerful.
So I read this meeting that I hope will cheer me up, and people are
talking about their neat-o keen computers. blarg.

This exchange offended me. So I responded:

Subject: Re: ping and workstations etc.

Maybe, just maybe, there are some people who

That is to say: "I"

don't have a relationship about which to think insipid, sappy thoughts all
  day,

"don't have a relationship about which to write to ping"

but who still have something about which to be cheerful,

"but I still get to be happy"

without resorting to spewing forth lurid sexual fantasies onto electronic
  bulletin boards.

"about things that are real, as opposed to imagined."

Is there a problem with this? Only that there was a complete lack of parsing,
as far as I can tell.

do you mean that aside from computers there's nothing to be happy about
except relationships and/or sexual fantasies? i'm sorry for you, aaron.
  --[0234]-- (pref = [0222], nref = [0240])

No, in fact. Someone writes in that he or she is happy about his or her
computer, and you start complaining that it's not sex, so it's not cheering
you up. My comment was meant to object to what I saw as a limiting factor
on the definition of cheerful. I didn't say word one to imply that
relationships or sexual fantasies were in any way cheery to me, although they
certainly can be, nor that cheery thoughts had to be limited to computers.
Perhaps if only talk about sex cheers you up, we should start a discuss
meeting called cheesecake...
