Not clear. The file in /usr/tmp with the incoming mail existed, but was zero length; so was my mbox, but the ~ file was there. The answer, I think, is to seperate the PO-box deletion out, so that I could get it to fetch the mail locally, make sure it got written out to my homedir, and *then* nuke the PO-box originals...
