Thieves...

Around 10:00 24 Jul, I walked into my room to discover my stereo receiver
sitting on my bed, my CD player and tape deck gone. The patch cords for
the CD player and tape deck were sitting in a nice pile where the stereo
stack used to sit. The speaker wires had been carefully detached from the
back of the receiver, and the speakers were still there. The only other
thing missing was an orange frame pack, probably just large enough to
contain the relatively light CD player and tape deck.
My window in Senior House physically cannot lock when it is closed. The
thieves (or maybe sigular, I don't know) almost definitely came in that
way, considering the clean patches on my sill and the pile of doors almost
up to the windowsill outside my room. This doesn't bother including the
stuff knocked off my desk and windowsill, or squashed on the windowsill.
Nothing else was damaged, although I suspect my closet and all the drawers
in my room were at least looked at, if not dug through.
The window was closed, but (of course) not locked, to the best of my
recollection. My door was locked when I left, but I don't know if it was
locked when I walked in. It doesn't make any sort of handy indicator noise
when I turn the key.
I'm out about $400-500 of stuff. I think Senior House should pay, for not
fixing my window after I turned in a repair slip for it.
Tomorrow I'm going to talk with the Senior House manager and see what she
has to say.
Sorry if this is incoherent or rambling. I'm tired and somewhat pissed, but
mostly just frustrated by this whole affair. I expect it will get worse
when the shock wears off.
Thanks for listening.
