Probably for the same reason all the "nice" (i.e. available and
presumably interested) women I meet live more than a 1.5 hour drive
away.
Probably also because (at least this is true for me, and it wouldn't
surprise me if it applied to you also) when you meet someone and
realize you are (would be) interested in a relationship with her, you
tend to make a much better first impression than when you meet someone
in some other context and don't become interested until later.
