Sigh.... I just got a car repair bill for $362+change... and there are
more repairs that have to be done...
Depressing thought1: I found out that a lot of the damage was caused
by negligence by Sears.... the air filter they put in was a generic
one and left a space so that dirt could get in over the filter. That
left me facing about $175 in carburator (sp?) repairs and cleaning.
(the filter has only been in since November)
Depressing thought2: I was gouged by the Nissan dealership in Maryland
where the clutch was replaced.... They should have told me that the
axelboots and the tire rods should've been replaced while they had the
axel out. The result: I had to pay for an extra hour or so's labor to
have the axel removed again. I also found out that the MD place
overcharged for labor.
Depressing thought3: Because the previous owners did not have the
proper servicing done when the car reached 60K miles, I'm left with
getting the timing belt, fan belt, and shaft oil seals replaced....
That's another $250--$300 in repairs...
and NO, I couldn't replace the car... getting another used car would
potentially leave me with the same or worse problems.... it would be
cheaper in the long run to get the car fixed so that it can be used as
a cheap commuting car. (mpg ~= 40)
