To ask a question along the lines of the one in the marriage line, why
do you want to stay at MIT anyways?  Haven't you had enough yet :-)?
Seriously, though, I know that different things are right for
different people, but I have come to believe the often stated opinion
that you shouldn't stay in the same school for both your undergraduate
and graduate years, especially when that school is MIT.  I wasn't
surprised when I was told in January that I couldn't stay here past
the VI-A's Master's degree, since I had a terrible Fall term due to a
variety of unfortunate events that all occured simultaneously.
However, instead of feeling sad, I actually felt kind of relieved to
know that I would be out of here soon and would be forced to do what I
wanted to anyways, which is to go somewhere else for grad school (that
is, if I still want to do grad school then).  Perhaps its just a
rationalization, but it helps in coping with "rejection."
