skiing this weekend

Well, it was basically a wonderful fun weekend. But I missed my distance
goal by such a tiny amount... On the second day, I carefully paced myself
so I could finish 3 legs of the race before sundown. In the second leg,
I slowed down to a steady pace, to save some energy for the third one.
And when I came in to the checkpoint, I asked them what time it was, since
I didn't carry a watch...
I missed the closing of the third leg by 15 MINUTES. Out of several hours
of skiing. All my teammates came in in time for it, but most didn't want
to, because they spent all they had in the second leg. Groan.
Oh well... next year... I should really be thankful that I *could* ski the
ones that I did. One of our teammates messed himself up too badly on the
first day to be able to ski the second day, which must have been terribly
disappointing.
(For reference: each leg is about 10 miles)
