y'all forgot serendipity. in all the "this is nasty and just gets worse,"
everyone for whom it actually worked out says it was basically serendipity.
so if you flap your arms hard enough, you might eventually get a lift from
a passing spacecraft. ("don't knock it, it works." :-)
