there's no such thing as a free car

Back in October my dad gave me his station wagon, keeping it under his
name and NC registration, because, as he put it, I can't afford a free
car in Massachusetts.
Besides the accident a few weeks ago (estimates range from $1500 - $2000,
still waiting for Allstate to decide whether they're liable), I'm currently
in the middle of a $300 brake job. Rear brakes need total replacement,
front brakes just need new pads. And, oh, by the way, my exhaust is
"full of holes", which will be another $135-$140, but I should be able
to get thru the summer with the noise. This not to mention that my brake
lights still don't work (guess it doesn't matter if I don't have brakes :-)
and I haven't been able to get the sour milk smell out of the back.
And I still need to get my MA license, which is $70.
