We should grab the latest version of the Official LaTeX style files
(from labrea.stanford.edu:/tex/latex); the latest latex.tex is <7 Dec 1989>.
The latex.tex pre-loaded into SIPB's and Athena' LaTeX is <4 Aug 1988>.
To answer Sharon's question, the version matches what's described in the
book; the date identifies how recently bugs have been fixed.
