You're correct, but that text is clearly wrong; bug reports about
software in the Athena release always go to bugs@mit.edu. I bet the
stock answer was updated for pine being in the Athena release and that
line slipped through. I'll send mail to ostock.

The next full Athena release, due out in mid-summer, currently has pine
4.53. It sounds like that isn't new enough to address this bug, so I
will update that to the latest version.

I'm guessing the reason we haven't had more reports of this problem is
that filtering is a somewhat rarely-used feature of pine. Does that
sound right?
