   I wonder whether it is possible to get the
   source code and the webster dictionary files itself on tape.
   We are running the CONVEX computer (4.3BSD unix) and I want
   to install webster program on our machine.
   If the webster programs and dictionary are public domain,
   I want to get the codes from sipb.

  We can give you the source code to the webster software that we use;
it is in the sipbsrc locker, in the directory /mit/sipbsrc/src/webster
(you have to "attach sipbsrc" first to get to it).

  However, we are not authorized to distribute the dictionary data
files; we have been specifically instructed by the people who gave us
the dictionary files not to release them to anyone. Therefore, I am
afraid that we cannot give you those data files.

  If you want to put the source code for the programs we use on tape,
I can help you to arrange to have it copied onto any number of
different media, including 9-track tapes, TK-50 tapes, IBM Streaming
Tapes, and high density floppy disks. Feel free to contact me
personally if you want to pursue this further.
