No, that should only happen if you move the defun inside the let.
Incidentally, I suspect you sent this mail to the wrong place, as the
address you used is for problems with a particular MIT-wide
installation of clisp rather than with the program in general; perhaps
you want clisp-list@lists.sourceforge.net? Before sending any more
mail, though, you should probably see if this problem still happens
with the latest version on <http://clisp.cons.org/>.
