Gv hasn't been properly printing pdfs for ages. Bah. I figured out
the problem, which was remarkably hard given how simple it was: it's
version skew between gv and gs, which is version 7 in the ghostscript
locker, where /usr/athena/bin/gs points, and version 4 in the gnu
locker, which is the version gv expected. The easiest fix for this was
to modify the app-defaults for gv. I did so, and put the file under
RCS. Arguably modifying this file was the wrong thing, since it may
get overwritted if gv is reinstalled, but I expect that if gv ever puts
out another version (the last release was in 1997, and it's what we
have), it'll fix this bug anyway.
Let me know if my fix causes any problems.
Cheers,
--Chris
