rn on error exits without cleaning up after itself. For example:

You seem to have left an rn running, process 420.
That process does not seem to exist anymore. The count of read articles
may be incorrect in the last newsgroup accessed by that other (defunct)
process.
(The last newsgroup accessed was comp.windows.x.)
If the connection closes in the middle of a meeting, marked articles are not
returned.
