Hi. This is a known problem; normally you'd get a message when you
tried to run xscreensaver saying:
The SIPB xscreensaver does not work correctly under this release
of Solaris. Starting with Athena release 8.4, the default dotfiles
run a screensaver which will automatically activate after ten minutes
of idle time and lock the screen after eleven minutes.
You can run:
xss-button &
to create a button to control this screen saver.
but your dotfiles presumably use /mit/sipb/$bindir which wouldn't get
the script.

Er, oops. That might be a bug in the release.
