Aha! The first error is due to an incorrect assumption of mine.
I fixed this tonight, and tomorrow you should be able to sucessfully
incorporate new mail into pine.
The second error puzzles me. Can you confirm that when you quit
pine, you do indeed answer "Yes" to the question that asks you if
you want to expunge messages that have been marked deleted?
