I don't have many suggestions. The only one that pops to mind is
that I wonder if the quit time has grown with some component of
your mail system -- perhaps the number of messages in your inbox,
or the number of folders that you have?
(I believe I remember seeing rumblings on the exmh discussion
list about this, but I don't remember if there was a definite
conclusion about what was causing the problems. Unfortunately,
I'm going on vacation today, and won't be able to think about
this for a while.)
