webster light-year gives the following:
light-year \'li-t-.yi(*)r\ n : a unit of length in interstellar
astronomy equal to the distance that light travels in one year in a
vacuum or 5,878,000 miles
Now, I wouldn't normally argue about definitions with a dictionary,
but there should really be six more zeroes there (5.878 *trillion*
miles).
