So, I wrote a useful program that I'm going to put in the sipb locker,
but I wanted to check first to make sure something like it didn't
already exist. (A lesson well learned half way through implementing
both lock and logger)

It's called xidle, it forks itself into the background and will run a
command of your choosing if no keys on the display are pressed within
a specified time delay. When a key is pressed it resets the timer and
starts over.

spatula-city:29521.null% ./xidle -h
usage: xidle [-d <display>] [-t <timeout seconds>] command [arg1] ...

so people might like to do "xidle xscreensaver -L" or something.

anyway, if i wasted my time let me know, otherwise i'll finish it up,
write a man page etc. If you want to look at it or play with it it's
at /mit/kretch/Project/xidle (and is built there for solaris at the
moment) Suggestions for improvments are welcome. It was basically
derived from xkey, incedentally.
