a few minutes ago, encountered m38-370-18 running extremely slowly. turned
out xcmd process pid 26620 by uid 31960 recently logged out was still
running and eating entire CPU. wouldn't respond to two kill -9 commands
as root. finally just rebooted machine with reboot command. core file
obtained with gcore can be found in /mit/ddaniel/Public/core.xmcd.
