ssh'ing from either my home machine (running redhat-athena) or
from opus to xcb or savage, my display gets set properly (xterm and
emacs come up), but Mosaic doesn't:

x15-cruise-basselope> printenv DISPLAY
x15-cruise-basselope.mit.edu:1.0
x15-cruise-basselope> xterm
x15-cruise-basselope> Mosaic
Couldn't open display: x15-cruise-basselope.mit.edu:1.0
Error: Can't open display: x15-cruise-basselope.mit.edu:1.0
x15-cruise-basselope>

Xhosting from opus and setting the display explicitly doesn't help:

opus> xhost
access control enabled, only authorized clients can connect
INET:X15-CRUISE-BASSELOPE.MIT.EDU
INET:OPUS.MIT.EDU
INET:localhost.mit.edu
LOCAL:

x15-cruise-basselope> setenv DISPLAY opus:0.0
x15-cruise-basselope> xterm
x15-cruise-basselope> Mosaic
Couldn't open display: opus:0.0
Error: Can't open display: opus:0.0
x15-cruise-basselope>

Telnetting produces the same result:
x15-cruise-basselope> printenv DISPLAY
opus:0.0
x15-cruise-basselope> xterm
x15-cruise-basselope> Mosaic
Couldn't open display: opus:0.0
Error: Can't open display: opus:0.0

x15-cruise-basselope> which Mosaic
/mit/sipb/sun4bin/Mosaic

I do not recall whether I've successfully run Mosaic w a remote display
before.

I glanced through the outer wrapper script without enlightenment.
