Hello.
Although I don't use xrn myself, I just tried to do some of the things
that you mentioned and it seemed to work normally. If you can provide
some more detail, then we could try investigating the problem a bit
more. Alternately, there are a few news readers available that aren't
xrn that you might like.
tin, in sipb, isn't an X program, but is very easy to use
trn, in sipb, is also not an x program, but is pretty powerful
netscape includes a newsreader these days. The 4.0 versions are
available in outland (add outland; netscape-4.0 &)
knews, in outland, is in beta test, but is a pretty nice, powerful
X based news reader. Being beta, however, it may not be more
stable than xrn.
