Dear Person Who Has To Deal With Abuse Complaints,
I believe that AGIS places certain restrictions on the use of bulk
E-mail advertising by its clients. Specifically, your Acceptable Use
Policy Addendum states that:
> 4. All customers of AGIS who function in whole or in part as e-mail
> advertising companies on the Internet, must be members in good
> standing with IEMMC (Internet E-mail Marketing Council), and be
> proponents of ethical bulk e-mail practices. If this paragraph is
> applicable to customer herein, that is, customer participates in
> commercial e-mail marketing, termination from IEMMC constitutes a
> breach of any and all AGIS contracts.
The unsolicited e-mail advertisement was sent to a mailing list from
one of your customers. Specifically, it came to MIT from the IP
address 204.157.32.20, and may or may not have originated from the
host 204.157.32.2. Reverse name resolution for these hosts seems to
not be working properly at present, but they answer to MAIL3.GZINC.COM
and NS5.GZINC.COM, respectively.
According to the list of members at www.iemmc.com, "Ground Zero Inc."
(gzinc.com) is not currently a member of IEMMC. Neither is "Shiver &
Associates" (shiver.com), the company that the mail transport on
MAIL3.GZINC.COM claims to belong to in the mail headers. Hence, I
believe the mailing was in violation of your policy.
I sincerely hope you will deal with the organizations in question in a
manner you consider appropriate. Thank you for your time.
