Dear Sir or Madam:
I am greatly interested in your graduate program and is now
working on the paperwork for applying. But I get some question which
might determine if I can apply for the admission of next fall.
The question is that: Can I go to study in your school with J-1 visa?
I graduated from Beijing University this August and got a grant to work as
a postgraduat reseacher in UCSF for one year. So I came here from China in
the title of exchanging scholar with J-1 visa. But when I now want to
apply for the PhD Degree of your school to continue my education, I find
there will be great difficulty to change visa from J-1 to F-1 becaue of a
home rescidency requirement. I heard that though most foreign students
come with F-1 visa, there is also some case that they can use a J-1 visa
for student. Is this true in you university? If it is, is there
any special requirement for me to apply for the forms?
The answer of this question is very important to me. It will be highly
appreciated if you could give me some information. Or if not, could you
please forward this message to those who may concern? Thanks a lot!
Sincerely
Hailan Hu
