As you all probably know, there is a fairly serious problem that
people on Linux machines are getting the Athena cell copy of the
locker. This problem will spread to other operating systems as they
incorporate newer versions of bind.
In the sipb-athena tree, I've added support in attach for preference
fields in hesiod filsys information. Older attach programs will
ignore the preference fields, so there's no compatibility issue.
I would like to put in a request for the following change to the sipb
locker filsys information. Currently, it reads:
AFS /afs/sipb.mit.edu/project/sipb n /mit/sipb
AFS /afs/athena.mit.edu/contrib/sipb n /mit/sipb
I would like to request that it be changed to:
AFS /afs/sipb.mit.edu/project/sipb n /mit/sipb 1
AFS /afs/athena.mit.edu/contrib/sipb n /mit/sipb 2
(Lower preferences are better, same as for sendmail mx records.)
I'm going to put this in named.local on some sipb office machines to
see if anything goes wrong (I've already tested it to some degree),
but there is always some risk that this change will screw something
up. Since I'm not the world's most active sipb locker maintainer, I'm
writing here to see if there are any objections to requesting this
change.
