Help me please...

I have old thesis files I now need to get back online. They were
written with the IBM-RTs on the 5.25 inch floppies using tar or some
sort of MSDOS filesystem I believe. In my niave undergraduate state I
thought I would be able to read them in the "real world" but alas I
cant.

I have a PC with the 5.25 floppy drive and a 3.5 inch floppy drive, a
Sun Workstation with a 3.5 inch floppy drive, internet connections
etc. Dos reports the floppy is unformatted.

Any chance you guys have some slick dosware that will suck in a floppy
written by an IBM-RT and blow it out to GNU tar or something like that?
If not, does IBM??
