setting the font sizes in Mosaic (in Japanese, specifically)

Hello!

I may, in fact, be in space, here, but I am reasonably sure that
Mosaic does NOT listen to ones own Xresources (or to things one can
set via a "xrdb -merge resource-file" command.) Is this the case?

I tried, by way of experiment, setting ALL the possible Mosaic font
resources (all those specified in the man page, that is, who knows if
there are more) to

-adobe-courier-bold-o-normal--24-240-75-75-m-150-iso8859-1

and it came up looking exactly the same as always, in some
proportional font. Why is this the case? Is there some other secret
way to change the fonts in Mosaic?

I am trying, remarkably unsuccessfully, to get the software to display
a large font *in Japanese and English* for a demo I'm giving. Given
that there are 24-point Japanese fonts, you'd think I would be able to
just set all the possible fonts to one particular value, and it should
work. The documents won't be as spiffy as their creators may have
intended, but it will be readable in a demo.

Any suggestions?
