This seems to be an incompatibility with crypt() between {Linux,
NetBSD} and {x|x is any other Athena platform}.  It only seems to
affect encrypted passwords whose salts are non-alphabetical.  If you
re-encrypt your xscreensaver password until you get one with an
alphabetical salt, it should work.

I'm not sure whether or not we can do anything about this.  We could
link xscreensaver against an implementation of crypt() which is
compatible with the other Athena platforms, but then people who
encrypt their passwords using something like perl on a NetBSD machine
will still have the same problem as before.
