no, it really shouldn't..
the idea of lockers is to allow us to one day place the sipb locker
as /afs/athena/project/sipb,
or /afs/sipb/
or anything else we want, and still make everything work.
If you choose to break this, then it is your problem if things break.
My reccomendation, since you're running linux on a private machine, is
to place a symlink in /mit/sipb pointing to /afs/sipb/project/sipb,
and leave it there...
