I tried recompiling xfig with -DGSBIT for the RS6000, and it's quite
nice. Does anyone know why it wasn't originally built like this?

Also, the RS6000 build fails pretty miserably. Not only does 'make
Makefile' run imake out of the path (it needs to be run out of the
x11r5 locker for all the XCOMMs to work), but the files don't compile
with xlc:

pickled-herring% make
        xlc -D_ALL_SOURCE -O -I/mit/x11/include -DSYSV -DAIXV3 -DGSBIT -c d_arc.c
"./fig.h", line 177.0: 1506-213 (S) Macro name index cannot be redefined.
"./fig.h", line 178.0: 1506-213 (S) Macro name rindex cannot be redefined.
The error code from the last failed command is 1.

"make CC=gcc" almost worked, except that the link failed because the
Makefile used '-Bnodeslect' on the link line, so I had to do the link
by hand with gcc.

I'd be happy to clean this up, but I don't want to step on anyone
else's work. Most of the files appear to be owned by jik or root
(Calvin), but I'll wait a few days before fixing things anyway.
