   2) echoing comments at the beginning of the man page may be less than
useful, since the pager will never see them, and thus they may just
scroll off the screen, unnoticed or confusing...

Theoretically (and it usually works out this way), it takes long
enough for man to find the man page that the user has time to read the
message first.

   3) If we are going to remove this support, and we expect that "the
users can just ask olc and be told the right thing" (did JIK actually
say that? :-) then we should at least drop them a note in cfyi or
   something.

Agreed.

   4) What excuse is there for leaving it a shell script? If speed is an
   issue, write a C program.

Wonderful. Write a C program to do "setenv MANPATH
/usr/sipb/man:$MANPATH." This is getting worse and worse....

   5) I'm glad to see that jik actually has the time to maintain some of
   this stuff.

I don't. But no one else is doing it, and it's more interesting than
6.004 (but not by much).

   6) Does any one else REAALLY use the SIPB locker? I'd like to see some
direct evidence of this, not just old stories. Do they mount off of
athena space, snork, or do they cut tapes every once in a while?

Stan says he uses it in LCS.
