xscreensaver password reading doesn't understand that ^U means "erase
line and start over". Nor does it seem to understand ^H or ^? for
delete character. It also accepts extra characters beyond 8 and ignores
them.

Yes, it's on my todo list. Now that someone's complained about it, I
guess I'll fix it now :-)
I'm not going to change the 8 character thing -- login does the same
thing, does it not?
