I see no reason to keep around shell scripts whose sole purpose is
to add /usr/sipb/man to MANPATH before executing another command,
since we now tell users to do that automatically in the Inessential
Guide -- if they've added /usr/sipb/foobin to their path and are
getting our programs above the defaults, then they've already added
/usr/sipb/man to their MANPATH as well. Since no one else sees any
reason to keep the scripts around either (or, at least, no one
bothered to tell me of any reason when I asked a few weeks ago), I
   punted them.

I must have missed the original message about deleting man. I
definitely object to "man" going away. Admittedly the new version
(and perhaps some old versions as well) of the Inessential Guide tell
users to add the MANPATH stuff. However, I bet only about half of the
people who use sipb as described in that document actually do this.
Also, there are a large number of people who did not set up their sipb
environment out of that document, but instead got on-the-spot help
from someone in the office or over the phone. These people will _not_
have MANPATH set up properly. Of course whether or not people have
sipb before /usr/ucb in their path determines whether or not the sipb
version of man is used...but I would object to removing it entirely
without some kind of warning. Perhaps make it a shell script for a
few weeks that says:

You are using a version of "man" supplied by the SIPB. We will be
removing this version in a few weeks. You can achieve the same
functionality by adding the following line to your ~/.login.mine file:

		   setenv MANPATH /usr/ucb:/usr/sipb/man

Note that this will _only_ affect man pages for SIPB programs. Man
pages for Athena software will work as they always have. If you have
questions, please contact the SIPB office at 3-7788.

This is admittedly obnoxious, but I'm open to better suggestions. I
think we should warn users in _some_ way, though...
