Hi,
There exists a program called screen which maintains multiple vt100
screens. Thus on remote log ons several screens
can be maintained and the user can switch from one to the other.
I think that the program suspends the programs running
on virtual screens not being in use. Thus my perception (correct me if
I am wrong) is that with minimal extra work on the shared machine one could
have a lot more flexibility than now. I can get a recent copy of the
program (in C) and I would like extra space to install it. Actually I would
not mind if the space given is publicly accessible so that other users could
benefit from it.
I am open to any suggestions or objections. If the program is already
installed somewhere, I would be very pleased to know about it.
Thanks
Lakis
