   Why can't copy be used with sipb anymore? Doesn't this sort of defeat 
   the whole purpose of avoiding ftping to these cites?

The "copy" command has been desupported because it is not needed.
Other commands like "cp" can do the job.

I don't understand what you mean about avoiding ftping to other sites.
If you're talking about copying files from AFS, you can use "cp" to do
that just as well as "copy".

If that's not what you're asking, then you're going to have to be more
specific about what you *are* asking or we can't help you.
